TheRawLibrarian's WWE No Way Out PPV Review

Location: The worst arena in America, the Izod Center, New Jersey
Announcers: Jerry "The King" Lawler, Michael Cole, Booker T

World Heavyweight Championship
Sheamus (C) vs Dolph Ziggler

At first I was skeptical about leading off the PPV with the heavyweight championship match. However it ended up being a perfect decision.

Mixed reaction for Sheamus. The HOT crowd stayed active during the entire match, chanting "Let's go Ziggler" to start. Pretty sick mid match reverse DDT by Ziggler that had the fans counting along.

Dolph looked real strong and the crowd was into accordingly, as he was on the offensive for most of the match up. In fact, he was so over that even a sleeper hold got a huge pop. I like that Sheamus' "White Noise" was used as a transitional move tonight instead of a finisher.

Sheamus finished off Ziggler with the Brogue kick. Great choice as an opener, as Ziggler/Sheamus delievered big time; actually, it was almost as good as Sheamus/Bryan 2 out of 3 falls. Ziggler once again showed that not only can he have a strong match with any opponent, but that his time will come shortly.

Tuxedo match
Santino vs Ricardo Rodriguez

Seriously? Why would you waste valuable PPV time with this garbage? Well deserved "boring" chants from the crowd. Hats off to them for not putting up with that garbage. At least this was kept somewhat short. Winner Santino if anyone cares.

CM Punk backstage
Shilling his "I dig crazy chicks" t-shirt. I like CM Punk, but right now he's a caricature of his former self.

Intercontinental championship
Cody Rhodes vs Christian (C)

Pretty sweet new "Breaking Bad" inspired t-shirt by Christian. Really good match between these two. Christian with the clean victory, but having Cody Rhodes kick out of Christian's impaler made him look strong. These two can always be depended upon to deliver a classic match.

Christian. 2PPVs in as many weeks. Do that Edge.

Number 1 contender for tag team championship match
Epico/Primo vs Usos vs Justin Gabriel/Tyson Kidd vs The Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil/Darren Young)
It's good to see some focus put on on the WWE tag team titles. In the past championship matches have just been thrown together with zero build up. Developing number 1 contenders gives more credibility to the belts that have none right now.

Huge spot-fest ends with Abraham Washington turning on the Uso's and helping the Prime Time Players win. A great development for the tag team division. This match put the focus back on the titles and made them actually seem desirable.

[Full disclosure: I didn't watch RAW every week during the New Nexus and CM Punk's Straight Edge Society angles. Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan, and David Otunga have gone on to have prominent roles on television after the angle, so I am familiar with them. However, I am hazy on wrestlers like: Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Skip Sheffield, Michael McGillicuty and other wrestlers that have been apart of NXT.

(Editor's note: You didn't miss anything dude. Justin Gabriel is a "future endeavour" waiting to happen, Michael McGillicuty couldn't shine his dad's boots and Heath Slater is, in my opinion, the worst overall performer on the roster)

That being said, consider me all in on Titus O'Neil and Darren Young. I love the "Prime Time" gimmick. Their theme song is great and I'm a big fan of their matching ring attire. This match was a huge breath of fresh air for the tag team division. Hopefully there will be some renewed focus on tag team wrestling.

HHH in ring segment

HHH proposed a match against Brock Lesnar at Summerslam. And it only took him ten minutes to do it. Record time.

Hey, Booker T, Remember that Time Triple H Threw a 20 At You and Called You "Boy"? Stop Putting Him Over.

WWE Divas Championship
Beth Phoenix vs Layla (C)
Both divas met with silence entering the ring. Crowd was dead for this one. Layla with the clean victory over Beth Phoenix. I like Layla, but she gets no reaction from the crowd. This was the perfect time to give the title to Beth Phoenix. It seems Kharma still isn't ready to return yet.

Sin Cara vs Hunico
Crowd was so into this match up they broke into a "We Want Ryder" chant midway through. Seems like Sin Cara's days are numbered in the WWE.

Sin Cara over Hunico in a match up we saw for free two weeks ago on RAW. Sweet.

WWE Championship match
Kane vs Daniel Bryan vs CM Punk (C)

Amazing video package to set up this match. Well done Kevin Dunn, well done.

After consecutive DOA matches (no, Crush didn't come back), this bout got the crowd back into the PPV big time. Match ends after CM Punk pushes Kane against the ropes, knocking AJ off the ring ropes. CM Punk was able to take advantage of a AJ Lee-distracted Kane and hit him with the "Go To Sleep." By the way, AJ sold that bump well. Props.

When Kane carried AJ up the ramp, we saw her smiling back at CM Punk. Great match from all three men. Their contrast in styles worked surprisingly well.

Dan Delaney and Rob Grymes vs Ryback
I am officially at my limit with Ryback squash matches. Up the ante to 3 on 1 or GTFO.

Cage Match
The Big Show vs John Cena

This match seemed to go on forever. I'm a bit biased in my view of this match, because I am firm believer that your champion should be in the main event; I love how CM Punk has the WWE title but he is relegated to mid card status. However, it shouldn't be a surprise seeing as CM Punk isn't even trusted to main event RAW.

Anyway, long match. Cena gets the victory (surprised?) after assistance from  Brodus Clay, Santino Marella, Alex Riley, Kofi Kingston, Zack Ryder, and Mr. McMahon. Since when does the face wrestler need help from 6 people to get a victory?

Eddie @3CountBlog
I think this is the first time I ever went for a toilet break during the main event.

Grade: B+

Final Thoughts:
I enjoyed this PPV a lot. Both championship matches were great, Cody Rhodes vs Christian was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed the 4 way tag team match. On the negative side, Santino vs Ricardo was a massive waste of time and Layla vs Beth Phoenix was a solid match up, but the crowd could not have cared less about it.

I guess Cena fans enjoyed the main event, but do not count me among them. I can't remember the last time we got 4 solid matches on one show, so that alone means that this PPV was worth the purchase.
